LATHELIGHT LTD > about THE TRUST RIOTS

THE TRUST RIOTS are (were) a duo of Mike Karadimos (bass/guitar/organ/feedback) and Chris Jeely (drums/guitar/computer) from Birmingham, AL. Following their formation, the group decided to place their love of guitar feedback and the spirit of early punk rock at the forefront of their sound. The group also employ manipulated tapes, laptop processing, live drums and bass into a mammoth wall of sound that has been compared to The Dead C, early Sonic Youth, and Amps for Christ.

Mike and Chris first began playing together in 1994 and their individual paths have intersected many times in the form of numerous bands, late night recording sessions, or just playing around for fun. The Trust Riots were officially formed in the summer of 2005, and a mini-tour of the East Coast was quickly booked. Following the tour the group returned home and recorded three songs, the first two songs "Dead Heaven" and "Ampland" were released as a 'tour' single to support some shows played in October 2005. January 2006 saw reviews in CMJ and The Wire. The third song recorded is called "Freightliner" and was released in April 2006 as one side of a split 8" w/ UK band Rameses III. Late 2006 saw the release of the Dead Heaven LP + CS on Lathelight Ltd. This LP reissues the songs from the tour single (Dead Heaven and Ampland on Side A) and on Side B are two songs (Freedom and Teen Cardinal) recorded live in October 2005 @ The Florida Ave House in Washington, DC. This special issue LP also features a music cassette of a live recording made in Pittsburgh.

2007 saw no activity from the group, and in early 2008 Karadimos decided to call it quits officially.
